Scoring & Match Length

Group Stage

  • Format. One game, first to 21 points, NO deuce.
  • Duration. Approx. 15 minutes per match: up to 2 minutes of warm-up, then play until the leading score reaches 11 points, at which point sides change ends and take a 1-minute interval before continuing.

Knockout Stage

  • Format. Best of 3 games, first to 15 points each, with deuce: at 14–14, a 2-point lead is required to win; at 20–20, the next point decides it.
  • Duration. Approx. 30 minutes per match: up to 2 minutes of warm-up, a 1-minute interval when the leading score reaches 8 points within each game, and a 1-minute interval between games.
  • Changing ends. Sides change ends after Game 1 and after Game 2, plus mid-game in Game 3 when the leading score reaches 8 points.

On the Day

  • Be on time. Report to your assigned court within 1 minute of being called.
  • Court conduct. No eating or drinking on court, aside from bottled water.
  • Shuttlecocks. Tournament-standard shuttles are provided.

Serve & Receive

  • Contact height. The shuttle must be struck below the server's waist (level with the bottom rib).
  • Foot position. Both server and receiver must keep both feet stationary within their service court, without touching its boundary lines, until the serve is struck.
  • Serving court. Serve from the right court when your score is even (or zero); serve from the left when your score is odd.
  • Serve landing zone. The serve must land within the diagonally opposite service court, bounded by: the short service line at the front, the centre line and doubles side line on the sides, and β€” at the back β€” the long service line for doubles, which sits inside the court's outer back boundary. Landing past this inner line is out, even if still within the full court.

In-Play Rulings

  • Line calls. A shuttle landing on any boundary line is ruled in bounds.
  • Net contact. Touching the net or its posts with your racket, body, or clothing while the shuttle is in play is a fault.
  • Crossing the net. Contacting the shuttle on the opponent's side of the net is a fault; a follow-through above the net after a legal strike is permitted.
  • Double hits. The shuttle may be struck only once per side β€” consecutive contact by the same player, or by both partners in succession, is a fault.

Ranking

  • 2-way tie. Decided by the head-to-head result between the two tied teams.
  • 3-way tie. Resolved in order: Game Difference, then Point Difference. If either step narrows the tie to exactly two teams, their head-to-head result decides it. If all statistics remain tied, ranking is decided by a coin toss.

This tournament follows official BWF regulations, with the adjustments outlined above made solely to fit the event's time constraints.
